There’s no denying that summer is one of the best seasons but I always fall victim to the layering game during this time. Luckily, long vests/waistcoats are making quite the statement this summer, and today’s post is just about that.
Trend or sartorial salvation - I don't care, I'm loving it! Layering is one of fashion’s biggest blessings (in my humble opinion) and it has the ability to make any look more eclectic, versatile and modest.
Waistcoats come in so many styles: long, short, oversized, fitted, denim, leather, silk, lace, printed, patterned, pockets or no pockets, with collars and the list goes on. What’s great about them is depending on the cut and style, they’re actually appropriate for any occasion, from office wear to date night material.
Which makes way for my next topic of discussion: Bertrand at Mister A's. Let me first tell you - the hype is no lie! I called Mister A's and kindly asked if there was any way possible that they could source zabihah meat for us, as it was our anniversary dinner. For those who don't know, zabihah slaughter is believed to cause the least amount of pain to animals. It is important to perform the slaughter with respect, compassion and a prayer. To my surprise, the manager responded saying he'd do his best to source the meat from his one and only trusted vendor. Fast forward two weeks and we walked off the elevator to a beautiful, 360-degree view of San Diego. We were greeted by our waiter who mentioned that he was working with the chef all day to prepare the perfect three course meal for us. Round 1: lobster bisque with mint foam - rich, flavorful and melting chunks of lobster in your mouth! Round 2: bone-in rib eye with a truffled pepper sauce, roasted potatoes and baked squash. Round 3 (not pictured): peanut praline crisp with brown butter pop corn ice cream - um enough said.
The service was superb, with waiters anticipating our needs and the chef cooking an off-the-menu item especially for us. THANK YOU! I'd recommend this restaurant to anyone residing in or visiting San Diego - not just because of the personalized customer service but because the food was exquisite.
