Let's Talk Skincare: Kiehl's Since 1851

I'm so excited to finally be writing this post! A few weeks ago, Kiehls reached out to me and asked me how I would feel about collaborating for a product review. I can't quite believe it but I've been using (solely) the following products for the past two and a half weeks and I'm proud to share this post with you today!

First off, I don't really believe in "miracle" products - there simply isn't anything out there that is going to fix ALL of your skin problems. I don't have a ton of major skin concerns (thank God), just the pretty typical one - hormonal acne, some redness on my cheeks, and areas of uneven skin tone. And to give you something to work with, I have combination skin.

Midnight Recovery Concentrate: This is an oil used at night to "repair" your skin overnight. I've been using the Midnight Recovery Concentrate every night now and the way I use it is I first remove my makeup (I use coconut oil - my friend who swears by coconut oil gave me this tip, and it works wonders, is cheaper and smells like a tropical vacation!). Then I wash my face with my daily cleanser (Cosmedix Purity Balance) and let my face air dry.  I put about 3-4 drops of the concentrate in my hand, and pat it smooth into my skin, focusing around my drier areas and down my neck. To my surprise, this product is a lightweight, thin serum; however, it also contains a number of natural oils. If you have naturally oily skin that is prone to breakouts, I'd do more research to ensure this product is right for your skin.

Ultimate Strength Hand Salve: Hand washing is very important to me. I'm not a fan of only using gel hand sanitizers. Germaphobe? Maybe. With that said, I am a chronic washer so applying a good hand lotion  is a must. The Kiehl's Ultimate Strength Hand Salve is rather thick and as the name suggests, salve-like. My hands definitely feel coated, but not tacky. Be prepared to do some heavy massaging when applying this lotion into your hands because it's intense and needs some time to be absorbed by the skin.

Super Fluid UV Defense Sunscreen SPF 50: The consistency of this is most definitely fluid, and I recommended shaking well prior to use to ensure proper consistency, which is still thin and runny–much like milk but slightly thicker. The thinner consistency actually allows for easy application, as it spreads well and evenly across the face and doesn’t require heavy massaging.  I love how non-greasy and quick-absorbing this sunscreen is.  It doesn’t leave behind a heavy shine or cast and surprisingly, dries down to a smooth, matte finish. It does smell like sunscreen when applied, but I found the scent faded within a few minutes. I'm pleased to have found a new sunscreen for summer– yes, our San Diego summer has just begun.

Ultra Facial Cream: This is the most popular product from the Kiehl's brand; people swear by it. It's basically a super hydrating moisturizer for the skin, leaving it hydrated for 24-hours. With that said, I believe the term 'skincare' is rather subjective because products work differently on everyone's skin. I've used intense, hydrating moisturizers before and thought I'd never use them again because I broke out from the intensity; however, this cream didn't do that! It's lightly textured and quick to absorb, leaving the skin incredibly smooth and supple.  I also found that this cream kept my skin from looking dull because it replenishes the skin's water reservers during wear time, allowing it to remain hydrated. One pea- sized amount covers my entire face.

I hope you enjoyed reading my review of these Kiehl's products. I'd love to know what your favorite skincare product is, so please share the wealth in the comments section!
