Knits and Bricks

Happy first of February everyone! It’s still hard for me to comprehend how fast one month of the new year has already gone by!

Today I'm taking to heart the layering concept. Layering pullovers (or turtlenecks like I've worn here) over shirts is so much more comfortable and easy to pull together. The concept of creating a look that's flattering comes down to the actual layers and the look you're going after (for example, boxy or formfitting).

What I like to tell people is you don't need a tailored fit shirt for layering because there's nothing  more stylish than fluid, oversized fits. Boxy all over totally works well also. Layering over a roomy sweater allows the tails of your under shirt to peek out. You can also scrunch up the sleeves for an 'effortlessly chic' look. Wearing a loose under shirt is also less constricting, and more comfortable (which is always my number one goal in life!). Soft blouses can also be used, in place of a boxy button-down for a more feminine vibe.

Feel free to opt for a patterned or chambray shirt instead of a solid colored one, as I've done here with a pinstripe blouse.
